About BabyBundles
BabyBundles, keeping baby warm with cool merino clothing and sleepwear for kids from birth to 12 years old. Plus a few things for adults as well.
The idea for BabyBundles began following the birth of my twins Drew and Mia. Both Mia and Drew were admitted into Wellington Hospital's Neonatal Unit, Mia (4.2lbs) immediately after she was born due to her small size and Drew (6.4lbs) a few days later because he was unable to maintain his body heat in the Post Natal Ward.
The Wellington Neonatal Ward is about 26 degrees Celsius. While in Neonates, both Mia and Drew were dress in three layers of clothing, placed in small merino sleep sacks and covered in up to three woollen blankets to help keep them warm. I never realised that keeping small babies warm required so much clothing. But keeping them was very important. Keeping them warm means that all the precious milk that their little tummies can drink goes into helping them grow, not helping them keep warm.
On discharge the nurses suggested to help keep Mia and Drew warm at home and on the move by buying or making some small merino sleep sacks to sleep them. Unable to find any merino sleep sacks, I made some up with the help of my mother-in-law, a professional seamstress.
The idea for BabyBundles was born.
The BabyBundles range has grown over time as retailers have asked for new products and as my kids have grown.
The BabyBundles family now include baby clothing and sleepwear under the babybundles brand. Plus kids and adults ranges under the Bundles Merino and Traverse brands.
Our clothing and sleepwear is manufactured exclusively in New Zealand by professionals who have more than 20 years experience in the fashion industry, sewing for top New Zealand designers, retailers and corporations.
The merino used in my clothing, sleeping bags and wraps is supplied by Levana in Levin, New Zealand. Situated in between the Tararua mountains and the sea, Levana use water in the processing of our fabrics exclusively from the underground water tables of the Tararua Ranges. Having been naturally filtered through the mountains for hundreds of years, it's 100% chemical free. Ideal for children with allergies.
My sewers are based in Auckland and Wellington. With more than 20 years experience in manufacturing clothing they are the experts that make great quality BabyBundles merino clothing, wraps, sleeping bags and blankets.
BabyBundles products are extremely well made, providing you with a long lasting product that is easy to care for.
